Daily Schedule9:00am Greeting (10-15 minutes)
Each day starts with team-building activities so that every child feels welcomed and ready for the day. 9:15am Warm-ups (10-15 minutes)
Warm-ups are designed to prepare the body for healthy singing and include posture, breath, and singing techniques. 9:30am Group rehearsal (45 minutes)
Group Rehearsal is the bulk of the work. This is when we learn our songs and prepare for the performance. 10:15am Music game break (10 minutes)
After rehearsal, kids will unwind with a group music game. These games are low-stress and lots of fun! 10:30am Music reading workshop (15 minutes)
At this point, kids will learn how to use rhythmic and solfege tools to read and understand music. No music-reading experience necessary! 10:45am choreography/dance (45 minutes)
Lisa takes over here! Kids will learn choreographed dances for each of the songs they sing in rehearsal. 11:30am lunch/snack time (20 minutes)
After a long day of music, it's time to relax and refuel. Lunches and snacks must be brought from home, food is not provided at the camp. 11:50am closing activities (10 minutes)
Closing activities are designed so that kids go home with a smile on their faces. Activities may include singing simple folk songs, simple yoga and stretching, and listening activities. |
The Youth Choir is a great way for kids to get a sense for what being in choir is all about! Kids learn basic choral singing skills, as well as musical skills that can be used outside of choir in music class or piano lessons.
